Here's a story from the Associated Press on Sesame Street getting its first Asian-American Muppet. Her name is Ji-Young, she's seven, and she's Korean-American.  Oh, and her name means both "strong and smart" and, fittingly enough, "Sesame." China: The Fisherman’s Foe

Give a man a fish... I saw an interesting story on the Associated Press’ website a while back. Fishing is a very big deal for the nation of Peru. It provides a lot of the country’s food and no little of its income. But, China has gotten into the fishing business big time. It has sent massive fishing fleets all over the world, and in the case of Peru, right up the very edge of that county’s territorial waters. Sometimes, its ships have crossed the line into areas that Peru itself claims. But, worse, Chinese ships are using enormous lights to attract squid and other animals to its nets.   The result? Peru is increasingly shut out of its own marine resources. Who, if anyone, can deal with the problem is beyond me. But, clearly, China is not winning any friends in Peru. RINOs, Zebras, and Republicans (oh my)

  Born Free. Stay That Way. If you get a chance, check out this fun piece by Dana Milbank on the Washington Post site, “Trump and his herd are the real RINOs. So I stand with the zebras.”* In it, Mr. Milbank begins by recounting his efforts (along with other volunteers) to track down two zebras who had gone AWOL from an exotic animal breeder near his home in Maryland. It sounds like a merry chase, indeed. But, from there, Milbank segues to politics. He talks about how Trump and the Trump-ettes have branded any Republican not 100% in their camp as a RINO, that’s a Republican In Name Only. But, says Milbank, that’s a sick joke at best. The real RINOs are the Trumpsters, who have abandoned everything Republicans once stood for in favor of a sort of Fascism-lite. He, says the author, would much rather stand with the genuinely exotic creatures in the Political zoo, mainly the Republicans who have stayed true to their principles and rejected Trump and his Flying Monkeys.   It makes for a fu
