Vaxteen: Three Cheers For Them

Because sometimes you can't wait for the grownups to lead...

So here’s a story that is also a public service.

Let’s say you are a teenager. Let’s say you have a brain in your head and you know that you need to get vaccinated…against Covid and maybe more. But let’s say your parents are batshit crazy and are anti-vaxx. What do you do?

Enter Vaxteen!

This is an organization, begun by a teenager, which helps teens find the support and resources they need to get vaccinated in this dangerous time, even if their parents are anti-vaxxers and Covidiots. (It turns out, by the way, that in many locations, teens don’t need their parents permission to get life-saving medical care, including vaccinations. Or, even if that isn’t the case, there are still some legal ways for teens to get vaccinated without parental consent.)

Anyway, vaxteen.org offers online advice, links to important resources, and even information about how to deal with anti-vaxx parents. This makes it, IMHO, genuinely heroic.

So if you get a chance, take a glance at vaxteen.org, and maybe, if you know anyone who might profit from the information, pass along the link.

The life you save, could be a child’s.
