Message to Randy, Don’t De-Worm

 


Please don't take horse pills....



So I read in the news last week that Rand Paul, he of the Fauci-bashing and Trump loving, is saying that scientists won’t perform additional testing on ivermectin (the horse- and cattle-wormer) as a Covid treatment because they “hate” Donald Trump.


To which I reply…


Dude? Dude! Scientists have already done a good deal of testing on ivermectin as a possible cure for Covid, and they basically found that it didn’t work. That’s why they’re not recommending it. Scientists may or may not hate Trump…probably some do, and probably some don’t…but that didn’t play any role in their findings.


And even if the research hadn’t been done, there’s the evidence of our own eyes and ears. People who are taking the drug are not noticeably immune to Covid. They are getting really, really sick from the drug. They are showing up in emergency rooms all over the country, and in the process putting yet more strain on a medical system that is already overstrained as it is. 


So, Dude…Senator…Sir…could I make a small suggestion? With all due respect?


Like…could you maybe shut the f**k up, so you don’t put more people into the hospital? Where they are already competing with the people you encouraged not to get vaccinated? And so they’re now consuming all the ventilators and ICU? So that maybe, just maybe, you aren’t (once more) guilty of gross criminal endangerment on a grand scale?


Just a thought.

Michael Flynn…Satanist? Naaaw. But let’s giggle anyway.

This is not Michael Flynn... From the department of Cry-Me-A-River, I've recently learned that none other than Michael Flynn (remember him?) has run afoul of the QAnon movement and is accused of being a Lucifer-worshipping Satanist. Wait. What? No. Really.   Flynn was Donald Trump’s National Security Adviser, among other things. Following a wee bit of legal difficulty arising from his being an unregistered foreign agent for God knows who, he got a presidential pardon and set out for a new career as a Trump apologist and general crackpot. This included embracing the QAnon fantasy and cultivating QAnon militants. For a time, he was among the movement’s heroes. But in September 2021, Flynn was a guest at a right wing church in Nebraska. While there, he led the congregation in a very strange prayer which included terms and phrases apparently copied from a weird Christian sect that flourished in the 1990s. Christian Nationalism, and other contradictions in terms

Very powerful piece over on Vice that everyone should read, " Christian Nationalism Drove These People Out of Their Churches " by Tess Owen. In it, Owen looks at how Christian Nationalism...an ideology which is surely a contradiction in terms...has begun to overwhelm churches across the country. The idea that Jesus, who preached against such things, should be used to support racism, nationalism, and dictatorship is, of course, grotesque.
