A Few Good Reads

A good read is always welcome...

Still looking for interesting articles from around the web? Here are few that I’ve enjoyed:

*According to the book Peril by Bob Woodward and Robert Costa, Trump equipped the White House with a giant video golf game that allowed him to play the world’s most challenging courses “virtually.” This was what he did while Covid was killing half a million Americans. Biden took one look at the game and said “F*** A**.” Personally, I agree with President Joe.

*The Miami Herald is reporting that Florida now has in excess of 50,000 Covid deaths, yet, under its remarkable governor, Ron DeSantis, the state continues to reject mask and vaccine mandates. It makes you wonder how many people would have to actually die before the state government, and the governor, actually, you know, took notice. Maybe if the whole place went down like Atlantis? But, then, there wouldn’t be any government, so, maybe the point’s moot. And waterlogged.

*The Hindustani Times is reporting that the Islamic State claims it has killed 25 Taliban in a series of bomb attacks in Afghanistan. Hard to say what truth there is in the Islamic State’s pronouncements, but it is interesting that the organization is apparently still capable of waging war against the Taliban. Once again, it seems that victory is always a little more illusive than the “winners” might hope.

*And, finally, I see that “The Justice Department …[has] charged two prominent Republican operatives” with illegally helping a Russian citizen (read KGB agent) “donate $25,000 to the Trump campaign in 2016.” Right. If there is anyone out there who is truly surprised, would you please step outside and sober up? Thanks.
